Getting Involved

As promised, I am trying to post as often as I can. Even though I'm working more human hours now, I still have a funky schedule. For example, most people have the weekend off, I will be working tomorrow and Sunday. Bummer. This leads me into something I really want to work on this year, but is made more complicated by my work schedule. I have always been relatively involved in church. My dilemma since becoming a grown up? Since I have to work weekends, holidays, ridiculous hours, Jordan and I have been unable to get involved in church, much less make it there every Sunday morning. One interesting side effect of this is I relish getting to be at church, no matter where we are. But I would really love to find a church home, be able to teach a kid's class, be involved in a young married's class, ANYTHING, but this is nearly impossible to do. When we lived in Edmond, we tried to be involved in Children's Church, but they wanted an 8 week, every Sunday commitment. I was (and still am) REQUIRED to work 4 weekend days a schedule (every 4 weeks), this makes any long term Sunday morning (and basically any other) commitment impossible. This is incredibly frustrating because I truly believe the best way to get involved in a church is by, well, being involved in the church. I have yet to figure out a way to improve my situation, but I hope to do better this year. Hopefully I'll be able to get (drag) Jordan to come to class with me sometime in the next year and hopefully things can go from there. I'd really appreciate any suggestions anyone has, keeping in mind I HAVE to work Sundays. Happy Friday! Megan
