For those of you familiar with world of weight-lifting, body building or living with a personal trainer, you know how obsessive they can be about their diet. For the most part I don't really adjust my cooking for the need of excessive protein, whole grains and whatever else their diet calls for that particular bulking/cutting period. But, one day I was making chocolate chip pancakes, Jordan asked me to put some protein powder in the batch. So, after making my non yucky regular pancakes (no protein powder tastes good, some are just better than others, or so my mister says), I made some protein pancakes for him. Since then I have "perfected" the recipe and have the approval of most of the trainers/health obsessed people who have tried them. Just in case you need a recipe or just want to try it, here it is:
2 cups Heart Smart Bisquick
1 egg
2 cups of milk
2 scoops of casein protein powder
handful of semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
Cook...like you would any other pancake...makes 6-8 pancakes. Jordan eats them with peanut butter and syrup. Altogether, including the peanut butter, there are 18 grams of protein (11 grams without peanut butter) per serving. I was going to take pictures, but I don't have everything to make them! If anyone tries these, let me know what you think. I know it isn't all that original, I'd just like some feed back. This leads me to another goal for 2013.
My goal for the month of March (I should have done this in February...shorter month) is to try some new recipes. I've been stuck in a food rut and I know Jordan is probably tired of the same ol' , same ol'. So luck for some new, hopefully yummy and successfully executed recipes in a couple months.
